Established in 1968, John Coulson Builders LTD (JCBL), is a SafeContractor, accredited, North-West based refurb, construction, and maintenance company. JCBL pride themselves on offering amazing results to a variety of spaces such as offices and retail environments, providing a variety of amazing services such as refurbishment, construction, decoration, and all things in between.
JCBL sought RPMG’s expertise for essential waterproofing works at Deva Office Park in Manchester. The project aimed to address potential water ingress issues by sealing coping stones and lead stepped flashings.

RPMG’s scope of work included:
Sealing of Coping Stones and Lead Stepped Flashings with Sikaflex: RPMG utilised Sikaflex, a high-quality and durable sealant developed by Sika, for the waterproofing application. Sikaflex is known as the world’s leading product for elastic one-component adhesives and sealants based on polyurethane (PU) or silane-terminated polymer (STP). As building blocks experience thermal contraction and expansion through the changing weather, this product was essential to ensure there was no room for potential water ingress in the cold weather months, all the way through to the scorching summers. Furthermore, this product is known for its reliability and longevity, providing a robust solution for long-term protection.
What challenges did we face and overcome?

The site presented challenges in terms of access, requiring the use of system scaffolding and cat ladders. RPMG navigated these limitations to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
